An Analytical Study of Linear Momentum and Its Relationship to Some Biomechanical Variables During the Performance of the Smash Hit in Volleyball

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between the linear momentum of the approach steps in the strike hit skill in volleyball and some performance variables, namely accuracy and speed, Research Methodology, the research adopted the descriptive approach and was applied to a purposively selected sample of (12) players from the University of Basrah volleyball team for the academic year 2024-2025. Findings, a: There is a statistically significant relationship between the linear momentum of the approach steps and the accuracy of the smash hit performance. There is a statistically clear relationship between the linear momentum of the approach steps and the speed of the ball at the landing point (the footprint). Recommendations, Emphasizing the importance of precise kinematic analysis of players' performance to understand movement details and improve performance outcomes. Utilizing advanced field monitoring devices to obtain accurate data that helps in diagnosing and solving current and future problems.
