Abstract
The importance of the research was evident in improving the game of basketball, especially enduring the performance of defensive situations through correct teaching of performance according to successful teaching and teaching method, which is active learning. Thus, we contribute to achieving the correct educational level and successful application in basketball performance. The research problem was: Basketball defense is one of the basic components of the game, and successful defense means complete control over the game. Despite the learner's unwillingness to apply defensive situations due to their tendency to attack, use the ball and control it, changing the learner's idea and increasing his desire for defensive performance requires us to use appropriate education that raises the level of his thinking and performance, which gives the ability to raise the tolerance of defensive performance.
The most important objectives of the research were: Identifying the effect of active learning according to the mechanism (lecture and discussion) in learning to endure the performance of some defensive situations in basketball for students.
And the conclusion was: Active learning according to the mechanism (lecture and discussion) achieved the educational goals by raising the learning to bear the performance of some defensive situations in basketball for students.
The aim of the research was to identify the effect of active learning according to the process of (lecture and discussion) in learning to endure the performance of some defensive situations in basketball for students. The researcher used the experimental method, while the research sample was fourth-year students in the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, University of Basra, in the intentional way, numbering (195) students (males only). The researcher concluded: Active learning according to the process of (lecture and discussion) achieved the educational goals by raising the learning to endure the performance of some defensive situations in basketball for students. The researcher also recommended adopting active learning according to the method of (lecture and discussion) as it achieved the educational goals by raising the learning to endure the performance of some defensive situations in basketball for students.
