Abstract

The research included five chapters, the first chapter, in which the researcher touched on the introduction and the importance of the research, as scouting skills are one of the arts included in the curriculum in middle schools for the physical education lesson. It includes a set of skills that require scouts to learn and be able to perform, thus learning the skill and ability Its performance is a prerequisite for its mastery.As for the research problem, it emerged from the researcher’s experience and follow-up in this field. He noticed a significant weakness in the performance of the open and closed wedge skills by middle school students, as they are beginners and need to diversify in performance and not use a single style and method, as it is necessary to rely on advanced and modern methods that meet The desires and capabilities of students according to the principle of individual differences and the method of self-review is one of these methods, so the problem was formulated with the following question: What is the preferred teaching method in teaching scouting skills to middle school students? The study aimed to identify the effect of using the self-review method in learning the skills of the open and closed wedge of the scout teams in middle schools in the center of Basra Governorate.The researcher used the experimental method, where the research community included the scouting teams in middle schools in Basra governorate, which numbered 48 scouts. The researchers chose the sample in a deliberate way, divided into two experimental and control groups, each of them (24) scouts, and based on the results reached by the researcher through analysis and discussion in The fourth chapter reached the most important conclusions, which is that the use of the self-review method is more effective than the traditional method in teaching some scouting skills. The researcher recommended several recommendations, including the use of the self-review method, as it is one of the modern methods in the teaching and preparation programs for middle school students, especially in teaching scouting skills .
