The Effectiveness of an Educational Program Using Thelen Model in Developing Creative Thinking and Performance of the Straight Attack in Fencing
Main Article Content
Abstract
The importance of this research stems from the necessity of employing modern educational models, including Thelen model, due to its role in improving creative thinking and performance of the straight attack in fencing, especially the straight attack, which is considered one of the most important offensive skills in fencing. The research aims to identify the effectiveness of an educational program based on Thelen model in improving creative thinking and performance of the straight attack. The research problem lies in the weak level of creative thinking and straight attack performance among students in fencing, and the need to adopt an educational model that contributes to raising these levels. The researchers defined the research population as third-year students in the academic year (2024/2025), totaling (160) students. The experimental method was adopted with a two-group equivalent design (control and experimental). The research sample was randomly selected from two sections out of six, with (22) students in each group. The researchers concluded that the educational program using Thelin's model has positively contributed to improving students' creative thinking and straight-line attack performance, and the researchers recommend adopting this model in teaching basic fencing skills at the college level.
