Focusing attention and its relationship with the accuracy of scoring skill performance from 15 metres in football
Main Article Content
Abstract
Football is one of the sports activities that require a high level of synergy between physical abilities, technical skills and sophisticated mental processes. Despite significant advances in modern sports training methods, the "accuracy of scoring" in football remains a major challenge for players and coaches. The problem is crystalised in the lack of an accurate and scientific understanding of the extent to which "focusing attention" as a psycho-cognitive changer is related to the field level of "scoring accuracy". One of the objectives of the research is to identify the level of "attention concentration" in the research sample (football players) using approved psychological tests. The researcher used the descriptive method in the style of correlational relationships to suit the title of research and study. The researcher chose the research sample by the intentional method, which is represented by the players of Al-Salam Club in Dhi Qar Governorate 2026, where the sample was selected by the intentional method by (18) players. The researcher concluded that there was a positive and moral correlation (with statistical significance) between the concentration of attention and the accuracy of scoring football from a distance of (15) metres. The researcher recommended the need to include training for the development of attention concentration in the daily training curricula for football players, emphasising to the coaches the need to link psychological (mental) preparation and skill preparation in the training units.
