Abstract

Developing biomechanical abilities is essential in artistic gymnastics, as it helps students adapt to given exercises and improves their internal functions. The research's significance lies in enhancing students' physical fitness and, consequently, their skill abilities. This study aimed to identify the relationship between certain biomechanical abilities and some basic skills on the floor exercise mat in artistic gymnastics for female students. The researchers employed a descriptive methodology, deemed most suitable for the nature of the problem. The sample was randomly selected and comprised 44 third-year students from the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at the University of Basra, out of a total population of 70 students. After completing the tests, the data were processed using the SPSS statistical software, analyzed, and the key findings were summarized and discussed. The research and its hypotheses aimed to identify the impact of certain biomechanical abilities on some basic skills in artistic gymnastics for female students. The conclusions were that there was a weakness in biomotor abilities, especially in the research sample, and a weakness in their skill level. As for the recommendations, they were the need to pay attention to physical preparation to reach skill preparation and to proceed with the conditions of admission to the College of Physical Education by taking into account (weight, height, age, average, desire, physical and skill tests) and providing all that is modern of equipment and tools for artistic gymnastics.
