A Comparative Study of Some Mental Abilities Among Referees of Some Team Sports

Abstract
This study aimed to identify differences in some mental abilities among referees of some team sports. The researcher used the descriptive approach with a comparative survey method. The research sample consisted of (60) referees from some team sports (basketball, football, and volleyball), distributed at (20) referees for each sport. When selecting the referees, the researcher attempted to match them with several variables (refereeing certification, years of experience, age, and qualifications) due to the potential influence of these variables on the studied variables. The researcher used questionnaires and tests as data collection methods. The main research instrument was the modified (Bordon-Enfimov) Attention Test by Abdul Jawad Taha. The researcher examined some aspects of attention, namely (intensity, focus, and stability). The researcher used the arithmetic mean, standard deviation, correlation coefficient, and one-way ANOVA as primary statistical tools in the study. The results showed no statistically significant differences between referees of basketball, football, and volleyball.
