The impact of educational units based on the inquiry-based learning strategy on learning some fencing attack skills among third-year students
Main Article Content
Abstract
The study aimed to develop instructional units based on the inquiry-based learning strategy and to identify the significance of differences between the experimental and control groups in the post-tests of selected offensive skills in foil fencing among students. The researcher hypothesized that there would be statistically significant differences between the pre- and post-tests of both groups in learning the targeted offensive skills ,The experimental method was employed using two equivalent groups with pre- and post-tests due to its suitability for the research problem. The research population consisted of 40 third-year students in the College of Physical Education and Sport Sciences at the University of Misan for the academic year 2024–2025. The sample included all 40 students, randomly divided into an experimental group (20 students), which received instruction based on the inquiry learning strategy, and a control group (20 students), which followed traditional instructional units,The study concluded that the inquiry-based instructional units were more effective than the traditional method in developing offensive skills in foil fencing. The use of inquiry stages contributed to improving students’ practical performance,The researcher recommends adopting the inquiry strategy or similar student-centered approaches when designing instructional programs for learning sports skills, particularly in individual sports such as fencing.
