Abstract

Objectives: This study aimed to determine the level of healthy lifestyle among male participants in fitness and health centers in Jerusalem, and to identify statistically significant differences in this level based on the variables of training type (aerobic, resistance, mixed).

The study's importance stems from the increasing prevalence of sedentary lifestyles and the resulting hypokinetic diseases, necessitating the search for ways to promote physical activity and healthy lifestyles.

Methods: The study employed a descriptive approach, using a sample of 104 male participants in fitness centers in Jerusalem. Data were collected using the Health-Promoting Lifestyle Profile II, which covers six main domains: health responsibility, physical activity, nutrition, spiritual growth, interpersonal relationships, and stress management.

Results: The results showed a high level of healthy lifestyle among participants, with a relative response weight of 68.25%, indicating a good awareness and commitment to healthy living practices in this group. Statistically significant differences were also found in stress management between participants in resistance training and those in aerobic and mixed training, favoring resistance training participants.

Conclusions: The study concluded that resistance training offers health, and lifestyle benefits comparable to aerobic training and recommended fostering interpersonal relationships within fitness centers.

Keywords: Fitness centers, healthy lifestyle, aerobic training, resistance training.
