The Effect of Exercises Under Competitor Pressure on Developing Speed-Strength and Heading Skills in Young Football Players

Abstract
This study aimed to design training exercises performed under opponent pressure and to identify their effect on developing speed–strength and heading accuracy among youth football players. The researchers employed the experimental method using two groups (experimental and control) with pre- and post-tests, as it was appropriate to the nature of the study. The research sample consisted of (18) players from Ahrar Maysan Football Club. The results indicated that the implemented exercises (training under opponent pressure) had a positive role in developing the physical and offensive tactical abilities represented by the variables under investigation, namely speed–strength and heading performance. Accordingly, the researchers recommended utilizing opponent-pressure training exercises in football training programs to enhance players’ physical capabilities and offensive tactical performance.
