Design and standardization of a scale to assess the state of shyness among female students of the College of Physical Education and Science

Abstract

The researcher considers that the process of disparity and different abilities of individuals to deal with life events and their different characteristics and personal characteristics, which is the result of the interaction of factors of environmental upbringing and then society, as well as the development and change in his emotional, behavioral and personal characteristics. Any period of preparation and rehabilitation towards creating a strong personality that can think scientifically to achieve its goals, and that shyness, fear, and the related anxiety and confusion, which is one of the emotional states experienced by the individual who fears the situations surrounding him, is a problem that limits his social and psychological behavior, and as the researcher sees that the female students in The Faculty of Physical Education and Sports Sciences suffer from many problems, including the problem of shyness, as they are unable to express this problem or phenomenon at the beginning of their university life, which requires studying this topic in a scientific manner in order to put the female students in general and the students of the Faculty of Physical Education in particular, as they are responsible for Preparing the future generation.
The problem of the current research lies in that the students of the Faculty of Physical Education face many issues when they enter this faculty. Confused about how to find a balance between society's acceptance of this matter and their misconceptions about the nature of the physical education community, in addition to the shame of the teacher or her fellow students.
The current research aims to:
1- Designing and codifying a scale to assess the state of shyness among female students of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at Al-Safwa University College from the female students' point of view.
2- Finding criteria (grades and levels) for the designed scale.
Research community and sample:
Female students of Al-Safwa University College, who numbered 62, and the research sample was 48 female students, which constituted a percentage of 77.41% of the research community.
The research included presentation, analysis and discussion of the results.
As for the most important conclusions:
1- It was reached to design and standardize a scale to assess the state of shyness among female students of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at Al-Safwa University College from the female students' point of view.
2- Criteria (degrees and levels) were found for the designed scale.
As for the most important recommendations:
1- Conducting other studies on the same topic of research in other sports activities.
2- The need to reduce cases of shyness that occur among students of physical education and sports sciences through conducting periodic seminars for students.
